Below is the proposal put forward by Manchester Rovers to have the league split into 2 divisions even if we dont have 12 teams.
Hoping teams will get behind it and vote it in at Tomorrows AGM 10th of June.
League needs to change and needs to be open to everyone .
Meeting at 8pm .
AGM Meeting 10 June 2013 – Any Other Business
At the meeting on Monday 10 June 2013 we, Manchester Rovers Ladies Football Team would like the following to be considered in AOB:
A Change to Competition Format
If we do not have enough teams to form 2 divisions we would like to propose that all teams play each other once and then split the teams into 2 divisions:
For example if there were 10 teams you would play 9 games before the split,
The top 5 teams go into one division and the remaining 5 into the other division.
Each team would then play each other twice; this would mean a total of 17 games only 1 less than the current format.
This would make for a fairer competition and we believe would also attract new teams to the league. The current format just sees new teams unable to get a foot hold and they face ridiculous defeats.
The 2 division’s gives teams more games at their own level. Currently the league has been going for 2 years and in this time more teams have folded than actually joined the league, women’s football nationally is growing but since the split Manchester seems to be going backwards.
Football should be available to all regardless of background or ability, we as a league and football clubs have a responsibility to make sure that this happens and by making 2 divisions this will mean new teams coming in have a chance to play other teams at their own standard as well as giving them time to progress in the game.
The future of the league isn’t just about having 2 divisions but it is a start that we believe will attract more and more women’s team into the league. We should be trying to grow instead of being stuck in the current system which has not grown in 2 years.
We would like to put this proposal to a vote at the AGM meeting on 10 June 2013.
