With only 4 points between the teams in the league and the 2-2 Draw only 2 weeks before this was all ways going to be a close game.
With the game only a few minutes old Oldham took the lead when a long range effort helped by Sundays strong wind. ( Its March winter please give it up) just went past Sam in goal 1 nil Oldham Athletic.
This was to be Oldhams 1 and only direct shot on goal in 90 Min's.
With a very Strong wind behind them and a 1 goal advantage Oldham would have been wise to really go for it.
But did nt instead they took to time wasting from the second they were 1 nil up. Players refusing to get balls which had gone out of play and what not.
Rovers started to take control of possession and started to create chances down both wings.
There was more bad news for Rovers when Mc G who was having a good game pulled up with a calf injury.
Meaning Rovers had to reshuffle there pack.
Despite Rovers 80 % possession the first half was to finish 1 nil to the visitors.
At half time we spoke about raising the tempo of the game and not get caught up by playing long balls into the wind.
The players responded well and got about Oldham from the start. Amanda went close early on shortly followed by Rachel Grinrods free kick which saw the Oldham keeper pull off a good save.
There Keeper who was having a good game was now coming under constant pressure with corners mounting up Rovers were starting to go close.
At the Back Sonia, Kath, Newman and Cris solid and started a lot of our attacks. Behind them Sam was sweeping up any long balls well and we looked strong. Midfield wise Both Rachel, Scouse, Fletch and Dani were getting forward at every opportunity to help out Ruth and Amanda in attack.
Somehow and very frustratingly with 25 Min's to go we were still 1 nil down. We called for our super subs Leanne and Kell to get ready and there impact was all most instant.
Our forwards combined well to send Rachel G through on goal. Rachel left 4 defenders behind her and slotted home Rovers leveler into the bottom corner leaving there keeper no chance. The goal was well deserved and really rocked the opposition who were looking very tired . Newman met a corner but somehow there keeper and defender managed to scramble i clear.
Another corner just went past the post with the keeper and defenders on the. floor. Unlucky for Rovers and Amanda she was at the bottom of the scrum and had to come off injured. (2 injuries in 1 game)
Kath and kell both had half chances before a great switched ball from the right found Leanne who hit an unstoppable left footed shot a whisker wide. So close from the side lines we thought we had the winner.
Game finished 1 each.
Managers Point Of View.
Well played by all very proud that we kept our patience and on another day we would have had a few more goals.
This game highlighted how important it is to have all our players there week in week out.
Early in the season we lost Mc G to injury in the first half and with only 11 players lost out 3 nil.
This Sunday we had Ruth to come on and when we needed to push late on with Oldham tiring we were able to throw on 2 pairs of fresh legs which made a big difference.
The last 3 games 4 if you count the friendly players have looked allot happier playing against teams in and around us has let us start to play football and its great to see players playing with smiles on there faces.

Very difficult with every player giving there all.
Going to go for our captain Cris. Who marshalled her defence well and used the ball well when playing out from the back.
