Manchester Rovers 6-3 Chorlton Irish
1. Riccardo (C)
3. Whitey
4. Dec
8. Damo
11. Harris
16. Masterman
17. Tad
19. Brandon
22. Ross
23. Fraser
26. Yousef
Rolling Subs:
2. Mason
7. Bills
25. Big Nathan
Having built some momentum since Christmas Rovers had an ideal chance to keep this going, avoiding a two week break. Unfortunately no one told the defence who seemed to disappear for a three goal period in the first half. Not to worry, best to get it out of the system Andy White. Also, some of the attacking resembled this famous Torres miss for Chelsea vs Man Utd www.youtube.com/watch?v=__MYtxwS1t8 I hold my hands up in shame (though our pitch was less smooth and I had the imposing threat of a goalkeeper to contend with).
NOT TO WORRY – the rest of the lads decided to take the match as a goal of the season competition, here is a rough reminder of yesterday’s SIX OF THE BEST:

1-0 FRASER
A crafty near post corner is whipped in by Harris to be flicked home by Fraser.
2-3 MASTERMAN
A looping cross from the left falls to Masterman as the right corner of the box. A first time volley with majestic technique goes back across the keeper into the bottom corner. Also scored at a crucial time. A hint of similarity to this world class Robben effort… www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqk-g0UV2QE
3-3 BIG NATHAN
A deep cross from Andy White is fed back across goal by Tad. The defenders take it off Bills toe but only as far as Nathan who shimmies left and right and shoots through the legs of the defender into the bottom corner.
4-3 BILLS
A flick from Nathan finds Bills between the centre-backs. Bills smashes Rovers ahead off the underside of the cross bar. Maybe not the dribble but the shot resembles this famous Yeboah effort for Leeds www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vmf9UsV23E
5-3 BRANDON
A lightning fast throw in down the right wing by Stew Mason sends the equally quick Brandon free down the right wing. Bran leaves his defender for dead and dribbles into the box before smashing (literally smashing) the ball past the keeper at the near post SEE ROBBIE FOWLERS EFFORT ON 1min45secs for a replica www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8v08SP0Lnc
6-3 BIG NATHAN
To cap off a fine comeback and final 25 minute scoring spree Nathan completed his brace. In his own words, “[insert Leeds accent] Fraser dribbled past 2 defenders from the right side of the penalty area and a defender got a touch on the ball. I turned and hit it low and hard on the volley” and it flew into the bottom corner!!

Massive thanks to Stew and Mike for refereeing a half each...
Disclaimer: This was yesterday, unfortunately none of these goals count towards goal of the season. That’s why I chose not to score. Still thinking up an excuse for not scoring in any other matches.
