Rovers Legends – Mo
On Friday17th 11th May 2013 2014, an historic occasion occurred when the number 14 shirt for the Sunday team was retired. After three four seasons, loads of appearances, quite a few goals, two promotions, two cup final winners medals, one best newcomer award and one managers player award, the Mexican player, known to us as Mo left Manchester Rovers FC. Mo is leaving first to finish his PhD then to return to Mexico. In tribute to one of the best and most consistent performers Rovers have ever seen, Mo takes the first slot in our new Rovers Legends page. Here’s a short interview with the man himself:

Most memorable moment playing for Rovers Sunday’s?
The 2011/2012 Subsidiary Cup Final.
On 13th May 2012 the biggest game in Manchester was the Subsidiary Cup Final between Manchester Rovers and Manchester Valiant. Rovers were chasing the title and currently in second spot in Division 2. They faced a Valiant side chasing the Division 1 title and currently in first place. Rovers were clear underdogs and weren’t helped when a cross somehow looped in in the second half. However the ribcage of Damien Mulholland provided a last minute equaliser to take the match into extra-time. With no breakthrough the match went to penalties, Rovers came out victorious: 5-3. The celebrations began.
Stuart on Mo:
“Committed”
Tad on Mo:
“The complete midfielder, box to box, great strength, regular goalscorer and he would pass me the ball to feet”
Dec on Mo:
“A creative powerhouse with the spirit of a matador!”
Ross on Mo:
"Mo has been such an asset to the team, a box to box midfielder, working his socks off, some cracking goals but most importantly, he appreciates my fart jokes and nob gags. Not only has he achieved a PhD in engineering, but he's also passed "Understanding Blokes on a Sunday Morning Cracking Gags with a Hangover" to a NVQ level 3 standard. What an accomplishment."
