Rovers ended there friendlies with a 2:2 draw against Moorside 3rd's. Moorside contained a number of young footballers with a mix of experienced old heads which gave Rovers a good work out. All the Rovers squad got a good run out with the use of roll on & roll off subs. Todays squad was 17 strong with a further 2 players who had to watch due to being late. This also sends a good message to the squad as Rovers were still missing Damien, Mo & Denis from the games squad.
Players who hadn't as yet had a good run out were Darren, Whitey & Tanti who needed to get up to speed with everyone else.
Rovers went behind 1 nil when Rovers failed to clear with Moorside then applying a good finish to find the corner. Rovers tried & failed to play football but against the run of play scored from a keeper error where the ball cannoned off Bill into the net. Moorside had missed several easy chances so Rovers can count themsleves lucky to go in at half time with a draw.
Rovers started the 2nd half like a train & plied on the pressure. At last Rovers played the footbal that i know they can & derek, Bills & Pat all playing one touch football which allowed Pat to finish a passing move between all 3. This gave Rovers a 2:1 lead. Rovers then continued to break but in all moves the final ball was not clinical enough. This cam e back to biute Rovers on the backside as Moorside clinched a draw with a strike 5 minutes from time.
All focus now goes to next Saturday in the first league game of the season away at Old Stretfordians Res. 2:30pm at Flixton Fields
