Rovers played there second pre season game today at Parrs Wood school / sports centre which maybe the new home of the Saturday team.
A squad of 15 was available with Rovers still missing Whitey, Darren Lewin, Rob Tanti & Matt Fallon. Roll on roll off subs were employed during the game.
Rovers had a squad photo with Phil Lowery of Lowery Engineering who is the sponsor of the Saturdays new kit. Big thanks to Phil for the sponsorship & also for watching the game.
Rovers started nervously agaisnt a cross pitch wind & also getting to grips with players in new posistions. Rovers had countless oppertunities to take the lead. Carl, Pat & Patrick all going with close early on. Gary then h ad a header which looped over the keeper & bounced to the wrong side of the post.
Against the run of play & an assist with the wind Parrs Wood took the lead from there left back who miscued the cross & the ball ended up into the net. Nothing Rob could do. Rovers still applied pressure in the 1st half but could not make the breakthrough
2nd half started the way it finished. Rovers trying to get back on level terms. After 15 minutes this happend. Yousef closing the keeper down outside his box which enabled him to pick Derek out who then after exchanging passess with Mo found the bottom conrer. With 3 minutes left Rovers kept up the pressure & broke away from a rare Parrswood attack with Denis crossing the ball for Derek who slotted the ball into the top conrer.
All in all a good run out & it keeps the momentum going into the final friendly next Saturday.
