Pre Season
At present we aim to start pre-season on Wendnesday the 25th of May 2011 with a 6:30pm start & finishing around 8:30pm at Hough End every Wednesday untill September with Trinity being our base from then onwards. This gives us 13 - 14 weeks training. Pre season friendlies are being organised as we speak & for the Saturdays we aim for a friendly game every Saturday in August as well as combining trianing in the week. My thoughts from the Saturday managment side of things is we need fitness & for the first hour of training we shall be doing purely fitness with the last hour being ball work & a game.
We as a club will be asking all players who train to donate a pound for each training session. Again this is a donation & is not compulsory.
Please could you give me feedback about the above & any ideas you may have.
Regards
Stuart - Saturday Manager.

Great that you are getting things kicked off early for pre-season. Would be good to hear what the Sunday lads think too. Should we have a weekend session like previous years? Does anyone have any teams for friendlies? Rovers tournament?
In terms of structure I would suggest you drop the fitness hour down to 35-45 mins of really intense work, it's been proven anything after 45 mins isn't beneficial (geek) especially in pre-season.
From a personal point of view I won't be able to attend every Wednesday but will try and get down when possible.
Good effort

Mike
Any advice for pre season drills etc is hugley appreciated. Want to get fun mixed in with fitness to create a good vibe.

Obviously training will be for both squads & i know the Saturday team will benefit from the Sunday players turning up & hope vica versa.
I'm sure we can rekindle the 5 a side tournament in July as a opener of sorts & maybe hand pick teams out of a hat to make it more interesting.
I think Grahams plan is the same as mine to have a number of friendlies for the Sundays in the run up to the season starting.
One idea i have is for a friendly (mixed between both teams) in the lake district which would maybe mean the hire of a minibus / coach & play my old team & have a few drinks so we can make it a day out. This would be on a Saturday.
Keep posting thoughts & ideas up.
