Another league away game saw Rovers back at the Uni pitches.
With an important 3 points up for grabs Rovers started the better of the 2 sides playing good football and creating a few chances with Harris and Bran both going close. But with a strong wind against Rovers in the first half it was Athletco Chorlton who got the 2 best chances of the first half. On both occasions Dave Lavelle our stand in keeper ( Semi Retired) made 2 great one on one saves the second a fine double save to insure rovers came in level at half time.
The second half saw rovers continue to dominate proceedings which eventually lead to a fine run into the box from Andy White who was just about to get his second goal in as many matches when the defender hacked him down. Stone wall penalty. Bills our Capitan stepped up to the spot and made no mistakes 1 nil Rovers.
Bran made it 2 nil with a fine finish when sent tru on the right. After this Rovers continued to create chances but it finished 2 nil and another crucial 3 points in the bag for Rovers.
Ref Watch
8 out of 10
Mainly for the great office impersonation.
Are you having a laugh Mike Masterman. (Funny stuff)
Players Player
Brandon
Good goal and looked dangerous tru out.
Managers Player
Dual award
Dave Lavelle clean sheet and for answering the Rovers SOS with Ric away and Sanjay injured.
Garry Cotter
Slotted into centre mid well and all ways found a green shirt when on the ball. Plus some fierce tackles when trying to win it back.
Managers point of view.
To be fair to Athletico they do try to play football and this was a decent match to watch.
How ever Rovers were the much stronger side and 2 nil was the very least we deserved.
Cheers lads g
