2011 did not start well for Rovers and it’s fair to say they will want to get this one out of their system with a good showing in the coming match against Macclesfield. The greens started the game really well, going 2-0 up in the first fifteen minutes after passing the ball simply but effectively and taking the lead via two well taken goals from Nat. However, Wythenshawe are a strong, committed and determined side and they were not going to roll over.
Wythenshawe took control of the game towards the end of the first half and scored three goals in quick succession to go in 3-2 up at the break. At half-time coach Graham told the players that they needed to be stronger in the tackle and more committed defensively, but despite Rovers’ efforts Wythenshawe upped their game in the second half, their strikers proving clinical in front of goal and leaving Rovers with a mountain to climb, which they just couldn’t manage this time.
Players’ player of the match – Newman. It’s fair to say that nobody in green had a great game this week, but until she was forced off with an injury at half-time, Newman was Rovers’ stand-out performer; strong in the tackle, commanding at the back and communicated well. Well played Newman.

Managers Point Of View We started well on Sunday which was important but did nt build on our good start. All though this was a bad defeat its important that we come away from it having learned where we went wrong. Wytheshawe are at the top of our league and before Sunday I would have said there was nt much between the 2 teams as our league game against them showed. We still have to play this team 2 more times this season and I fully believe this set of players are more then capable of beating Wytheshawe. I hope you the players believe this too. As the match report said its Macclesfield this week with only 3 points separating the teams this truly is a six pointer and a great chance to bury the memory of last weeks game.
Managers player of the match All though the score line suggests we were terrible in this game. There was still some very good performances. I have gone for Chloe who attacked well and helped out n defense when called upon.
