Right lads really hard to write a report from a refs point of view of play so this is short and sweet.
Rovers found themselves behind when some hesitant defending was punished 1 nil to River plate. Dennis went close to leveling before a foul on Dennis saw Stu Mason send home the resulting free kick.
Might have been a touch on the way tru but early reports from the dubious goals committee are putting it down as Stu Mason.
1 each at half time.
The second half saw the game come to life. River plate broke free and a fine finish gave them the lead. This meant rovers had to attack and they turned the game on its head in the space of a minute. First Mike hit home the leveler quickly followed by some amazing skill and a high quality finish from Dennis who was having a fine game causing all sort s of problems for there defence.
River Plate responded and made it 3 each when rovers failed to clear there lines.
3 subs made by Alex saw Rovers look more attacking and our Captain Bills lead by example with a mazy run. dumied to pass to Bran but instead buried it to give Rovers the lead.
River Plate pushed for a point but were picked off by Brandon on the break in injury time.
Great to see him back and back with a goal.
Ref Watch ? out of 10
Cant score yourself.
Very annoying for both teams when there is no ref.
Would like to add cheers to both sets of players though as both teams behaved well and got on with playing football.
Other then there side line who had there own ideas on how to ref should we say. Behavior was brilliant.
Players Player
Looking at teamer its a draw.
With Materman and mauricio sharing the votes.
Mike attacked and defended well plus popped up with a well taken goal.
Mauricio new to the side but looked like he belonged in the Rovers green shirt. playing against a 3 man centre midfield. But still bossed it great display.
Managers Player
Ross
The defence came under a lot of pressure today but held their own .
Ross stood out winning every header and like our captain he lead by example today .
Managers point of view.
Great to get off to a winning start against a team that will be up near the top come the end of the season.
Lots of work to be done yet with a long campaign in front of us.
Starting next week in the county cup against some former Rovers Players.
Cheers g
