This the first of 2 games against Halton saw Rovers keep there 5 point advantage at the top of the league having played 1 more game then Halton.
Rovers got off to a flyer with Fraser bundling the ball home on the line. Halton drew level when we gave there striker a bit too much time in the box. Then the ref awarded Halton a dubious penalty . Should have been our free kick with the lad clearly off side. This led to numerous Halton players falling over in the box looking for more pens. Luckily for us Ric was having the kind of game that saw him get man of the match in last seasons final against Sale. Ric saved the pen Rovers broke away Harris found Bills after a neat trick and our leading scorer made no mistake 2 one rovers at the break. Second half saw Ric pull off 2 top notch saves to stop certain goals and Fraser cleared off the line for us.
A mistake by there centre half saw Dennis free in the box and he volleyed home an unstoppable shot 3 one Rovers. Then disaster for Rovers as first Bills pulled up with a neck injury. Every player was giving there all the first and second half saw bills chase players back and make tackles inj our penalty box. Bills had to be replaced . Then the night went from bad to worse first Halton pulled a goal back when the ball had clearly gone out of play. ( The ref should have seen this but the player should all so stand up and be honest but it takes a big person to do that look at henry)
Ric then produced save of the game but sub stained a double open fracture in his Thumb in doing so.
Rovers had 4 great chances to put the game to bed but it was NT to be as Halton got another dubious free kick on the edge of the area with 2 Min's to go. They scored it 3 each and we still had time to go close for a winner with Harris and Liam both unlucky not to score.

Best goal keeping display in a long time and I'm sure we will all be wishing him a speedy recovery as he will be a big loss for the run in.
Ref Watch 6 out of 10
This might seem high as he got a lot wrong. Most disappointingly for me was the number of late tackles he let go and hand balls. We needed a stronger ref here.
In his defence though the lad is just learning so you cant be too harsh.
The league should have given us someone with more experience . There was 2 refs at Turn Moss last night that I would have loved to see reffing that game but why were they doing nothing games ? All so why did NT the ref secretary not take the game instead . He was all so reffing a game at turn moss. Very strange.
Managers Point Of View
This result means its as you were but it came at too big a price losing our keeper and leaving Bills and Dennis as major worries to be ready for Sunday. On lasts nights performance thanks to everyone involved as a manager you could NT ask for more every player gave 100 % and we deserved all 3 points.
Cheers lads g.
