With the run in heating up it was not a great week for so many players to go missing. But this squad has proved all season that every player has an important part to play.
Rovers got this game by the scruff of the neck straight from kick off. Fallowfield turned up to try and kick there way tru this game but were played off the park. The way Rovers started the game was explosive cutting tru fallowfield within 10 seconds with a great move with Bills shooting just wide. We did nt have to wait long for a goal though. Stu Mason picking up the ball and playing a great pass into the channel . There defender tried to shield it out but got mugged by the busy Fraser on the bye line and cool as you like Fraser looked up and picked out Bills who applied the finish 1 nil. Soon after Mason and Dennis went close. Then some great one twos played Mason in out on the left and he picked out Dennis who made it 2 nil. There was no let up from Rovers who were pressing all over the park. Townsend and Ross were looking solid. ( Fair play to Stu who has nt played for a few games but did not look out of place) . Fraser dribbled past 2 players in the area and got hacked down by the 3rd defender no pen given which was a disgrace. (imagine Big Phillis hack for Sat's last week but with malice). Then with the keeper in no mans land and Bills tru on goal there defender rugby tackled him. The player was all ready on a yellow and last man but got let off with a warning. From this free kick we got a corner and what followed was the best goal moth scramble for a long time. The keeper drooped the ball under pressure and Stu Townsend had 5 attempts on goal all blocked . Fallowfield could on clear as far as mike who's cross back in was handled by the defender. Penalty given. Bills popped it in but was made retake it. The ref and opposition did there best to put him off for the retake but The Rovers captain took a great pen 3 nil at half time. Te second half Rovers started off exactly where they left off the Fallowfield keeper made 2 great saves from mike. The ref who was having an awful game awarded Fallowfield a pen when Ric had clearly won the ball. Justice was done however when Ric saved the resulting pen. We then had I would say Rovers goal of the season where rovers passed the ball around might be an exaggeration if I said a 20 pass move but it was great football with Mike dropping in a great cross for Liam to nod home. Great way for him to make his come back as well. The ref was doing his best to spoil things and with a player yards offside Fallowfield pulled one back. Another fine move ended with a great cross from Liam and he hard working Fraser got his deserved goal. There was still time for Damo to head over late on.
Players Player
Stu Mason
Had his best game of the season.
Managers Player
Stu Mason
Exceptional every player was 9 or tens today so to get man of the match when your team mates are on fire shows how well he played .
Ref watch 5 out of 10
I dont like being harsh as we do need refs but we have had him before and we knew what we were getting. Credit to the players who staid off his back though which was great to see
Managers Point of view.
At this point of the season its all about picking up points .
But the performance yesterday was top notch. Some great football on display from Rovers to boot.
Cheers to Yousef for stepping in as well to add numbers.
As I said at the beginning of tis report its great to have such a top quality squad to call on.
