Rovers went into the second league game of the season in high spirits against league toppers Powerhouse Dynamos. Rovers got off to the perfect start after a couple of minutes after Damian Mullholland hit a wonderful left footed strike from 30 yards out. Rovers battling and putting their opponents under pressure was great to see.
Unfortunately Rovers seamed to move down the gears as the first half went on and conceded two soft goals to go into half time 2-1 down.
The second half didn’t get off to a great start either with Rovers players lacking in making any sort of tackle leading to Powerhouse taking a 3-1 then 4-1 lead.
It was only then when Rovers started to pressure and play again, after a change in formation Brandon Parker Stone grabbed what turned out to be a consolation goal.
This was a strange game to be involved in and all over the pitch Rovers just were not at the races, whether this is personal preparation or other issues everyone needs to look at themselves and improve for next week. In patches we showed great desire, belief, fitness and footballing ability the rest of the time we showed absolutely none of the above.
Fortunately this season Rovers 1st team look to have the strength and depth for each and every member of the team yesterday to be concerned about losing there place so hopefully this will mean an improved performance next week.
Man of the Match: Not sure as I wasn't at the pub but my vote would have been Damian M.
