An excellent start to the new season for Sunday reserve squad came about with a professional display against one of the league newcomers.
The match started brilliantly with a good handball shout being awarded in the first minute or so. Andy weaver duly slotted the penalty away. Rovers had a momentary lapse at the back which allowed ardwick to equalise a few minutes later as I allowed the striker to get in behind me when i failed to clear. However a resilient rovers hit back Theo scoring an excellent first half hat-trick which made his England namesake look distinctly average. All 3 goals came from great passages of play where Rovers put in one excellent cross and two great passing moves that no doubt we're inspired by the work we put in at training.
With us 4-1 up at half time we we're in a strong position. At the start of the second half we started a little slowly, maybe slightly complacement. However Rovers picked up again and drove on to see the match out scoring two more goals. Theo scored again and Weavo converted on the volley from a raking cross from Chris Gray. The only bad points from the second half was a ridiculously achieved injury to myself ( I mean who puts up a fence with no god d**n way of getting safely over it!) and some reckless lunges from a frustrated and desperate opposition that seem to have had no lasting affect on our players.
To sum it up this is a great start for the season and we need to continue this form as we will come up against tougher opponents along the way. All in all though every player on the pitch can be proud of themselves today, Theo was deadly on his own up front, the midfield passed the ball and supported him and the defense shut up shop at the back.
Team:
GK Lee Sharples (sub Ged Hawes 70 mins)

CB Paddy Lisle
CB Gareth Williams (sub Steve Fraser 75 mins)

MOM: So many great performances today but purely for his really well taken 4 goals -THEO
