This was a result to forget for Rovers. Losing to the worst team in the league by 9-3 is an utter disgrace and every player 1-11 has to have a good look at themselves.
4-0 at half time because of sloppy play in areas of danger. It appeared Rovers took the opposition far far too lightly and paid the price having to chase the game in the second half.
It looked on when Dave Lavelle latched onto Ged Hawes through ball to chip past the keeper in the first 3 minutes of the second half. Dave Lavelle pulled a second back shortly after but more poor play gifted Staley a fifth. Simon Jenkison scored a quick free kick when Staley’s defence were asleep, but it was at this point Rovers appeared to stop playing and let the Staley team do virtually what they wanted, which basically meant score another 5 goals.
Players were looking at the referee in despair as it appeared he was giving the majority of the decisions to Staley, but every player on the pitch had opportunities to deal with it before the alledged poor decisions were (not) given.
All I can say as a manager is you can’t go into a game with that attitude and expect the points before you start. In every game you have 90 minutes to prove yourself, and today we played for 15 at the start of the second half.
