Rovers looking to build on the last two great results entered the game again with consistency in the squad. only one player missing from the impressive show against inter didsbury.
The weather conditions were not the best, and upon arriving at the pitch it was clear the wind would play a major part in this fixture blowing from one end to another. Rovers losing the toss were givent the wind first half and the sloping pitch. From the off rovers looked bright and after a few early mistakes began dominate, plugging away for the break through. It came from a penalty which was neatly tucked away by paul mcneill, but rovers started to show a bit of complacecy as hardley fought back yet never really trouble nick sowerby in the rovers goal. The ball broke in the penalty area and rovers had their second tucked away by hamed. As halftime approached rovers surged forward, and from a foul on the edge of the area Dave Walton found the top corner from the resulting free kick . With 5 minuted remaining another foul on the edge of the area saw the free kick lashed home by Atu sikanda. Rovers 4-0 up at half time.
Hardley came out second half aided by the wind, and started to claw themselves back into the game. A free kick, offside goal and jubious handball penalty made the scoreline more respectable for them. Rovers were unlucky not to score and in the moments where the ball broke rovers played some great football cutting hardley open but just couldnt apply the finish. Game ended and rovers earned the result they deserved.
Another good display although i personnally believe it was no-where near the standard of performance from previous weeks. With two very difficult games against YM over the next two weekends, rovers need to keep on improving. Well done lads backs to the wall second half and you showed the fight to come through and take the points.
