Rovers Hold On for the Points
Rovers came out on fire at the start of this game. St Margaret Marys didn't know what him them, literally as Atu Sikanda's shot smacked the SMM's defender square in the face before going past the keeper. Straight from the restart Simon Jenkison dispossessed the SMM striker, played a one two with Yousef Rooble before playing in Atu Sikanda for his second. Hamed Heshmati profitted from poor defending for the third and Rovers were 3-0 up and looking comfortable in the first twenty minutes. It remained that way until a mad 2 minutes at the end of the first half when SMM's hit Rovers on the break twice to make it 3-2 at half time. The second half had chances from both teams, but Rovers held on to take the points.
The Manager said "This game had good points and bad points. We went ahead deservedly early on but we failed to take advantage and push on. It seemed like we stopped playing. That let SMM's in and put us under pressure. It showed great resilience to hold on for the win. It's good to see that when we must take a win, we get it. I'm sure we'll be a contender for the title next season."
