Manchester Rovers 2 - 2 Olympico Manchester
Rovers (for once) started this game brightly and looked the stronger side. After a delayed start to the match due to referee issues Rovers took the lead through Pete Evison. A great turn and strike in the Olympico penalty area.
Playing against the wind Rovers knew they would be in for a test against a skilful and pacey opposition but Youssef Rouble netted his first of the season after the keeper spilled a shot to give Rovers a 2-0 lead.
With Rovers in control it was a massive blow to go into half time 2-1 up. After a long throw into the Rovers area, a bouncing ball was not dealt with and the Olympico striker finished very well on the half volley.
After the half time break Rovers needed to capitalise on the advantage of the wind and created a hatful of chances to no avail. Olympico were penetrating in patches but Dave Lavelle playing in goal for Rovers seemed to anticipate any over the top balls and deal with them.
Unfortunately the missed opportunities was Rovers downfall, a long ball over the top this time was not dealt with and the handy Olympico striker beat the rovers defence to finish well.
An all round disappointing day at the office for me, even though we got a point from this game there is no reason why we shouldn’t have got all three. Especially with the squad of players we had, I think we all need to take a look at our game and get it right ASAP.
Team:

Managers point of view. This was a game rovers needed to win to give themselves a chance of staying up. After a great start of going 2 nil up and being in control of the game. we let ourselves down. Starting with getting involved with petty feuds. We are 2 nil up why bother . The best reply is to stick more goals past them . Not nearly leave your team with 10 men. We were all so one dimensional going forward. why not shoot at a keeper who looks to be scared of the ball or cross a ball into the box when the chance arrives. We had chances to go further ahead in this game and they were NT taken. Olmpico had 2 chances yesterday and they took them both. To be fair to our defence and keeper they did play well . We were found wanting when we had the ball. Toward the end of the game when we were looking for the winning goal one of our strikers had a shot in a good position which went just over . Only to be shouted at by one of his own players for not passing it backwards in my opinion. Strikers are there to shoot dont get on there backs especially when your not even up with play. Olimpico are bottom of the table with 2 points all season . These are the 2 points we gave them . Which goes to show we deserve to be where we are at the moment. As i have said from the begining this is a transitional period for the Sunday teams so i cant be too hard but 2 goals up and nobody doing the ugly things in football ain't good enough sorry. Players man of the match Brandon Stone ( did his best up front with little or no supply). Managers man of the match keeper Dave Lavelle ( not at fault for either goal and saw the danger before it arrived)

I agree with Graham. As the secretary of this club I expect all players and committee to behave in a certain manner. If the opposition decide they want a fight then we MUST NOT get involved and walk away, and let the referee do his job. By getting involved, you not only affect your own game but everyone's around you, and hence affects the whole team. This goes for detrimental shouts as well. I know it's frustrating when things aren't going well on the pitch but shouting at the top of your voice "f**kING HELL" makes everyone thing you're shouting at them, even if you are directing it at yourself. It's not fun and it put's everyone's back up and hence put the team on a downer, which affects performance.
At the end of the day lads we're all there to enjoy ourselves, and this goes from the League committee right down to the players. The League Committee get clubs and referees together to provide competitve football. Club officials get players together to play in the league. The referees get up like yourselves on a Sunday morning to control the games. And you lot go out and want confrontations with the opposition which causes referee numbers to dwindle. League officials to want to quit and then there is olny SKY Sports left on a Sunday.
At the end of the day, we at the club do our best to make sure everyone enjoys playing football. And that includes the opposition and referees. If oppositions want to have a fight, we do what we can to prevent this from happening again, BUT we have to let the referee do his job. If he fails us we go to the league. All we can do on the day is ignore it and play football. That is the only way Football will win. When we are on our game, all three teams have proven this season that when we play and enjoy ourselves we win games and enjoy it all the more. So I want to see less of this handbags and more football being played. We played well yesterday, but sometimes it's just not meant to be. We have 10 games left and only 9 points from a playoff place. There is no reason why we cant pull that back over 10 games if we play like we played in that first 20mins for all 90 in the coming weeks!
COME ON ROVERS!!!!!!!!!

I think some of the above comments are aimed at me. And I would like to apologise to any of the Rovers sqaud that were offended or if I put anyone's back up. Anyone who knows me knows how much I put into my football and how I want Rovers to be successfull. As you probably guessed I was (and still am) dissapointed with Sunday's result and my own performance and maybe I could have controlled myself better at times but if anyone thinks I will stop caring about winning football matches then they are wrong.
In all honesty in defence of Pete on Sunday I think anyone would have reacted strongly if they had been spat at by an opposing player. We all know Pete is a mardy arse on the football pitch also (ha ha).
Again apologies to anyone I offended and I will endevaour to stop any "detrimental" shouts.
See you all Thursday or Sunday

You're right about Pete's reaction being what most of us would have done, BUT he would not have been spat at if he didn't react to the trip in the first place. The referee was right there and would have dealt with it accordingly.
I meant to say in my earlier comments that I'm glad that players are all for the club and want to be successful. I want the players to have that passion for the game and for Rovers. I just think it can be expressed more usefully by encouraging each other rather than releasing your frustration.
