Rovers Beat Off the Christmas Turkey!
Rovers start 2008 with a win AND their first clean sheet of the season. It was a tense first 20 minutes with chances going either way, but it was Simon Jenkison who broke the deadlock from a Mark Curtis free kick. Rovers nearly conceeded straight away but the defense held strong with a couple of clearances off the line. Rovers doubled their lead just before half time when Yousef Rooble played in Dave Lavelle to slot home. Droylsden came at Rovers hard at the start of the seconds half as was expected, but Rovers soaked up the pressure and then took their chance to seal the game when Dave Lavelle put Harinder Bajwa through to make it 3-0. Alex Pentecost made it 4 with the last kick of the game.
The Manager said:- "This was a great win. I was hoping for something out of the game, but to win it convincingly like that was superb. It just goes to show how well we CAN play when we want to. I don't think we're that far off competing with the top teams and even push for promotion next year."

Great result Saturday lads, feels a lot better going home with a win! Good performance on a difficult pitch. I thought Ric pulled off some great saves to keep that clean sheet but the main thing was we played for the full 90 minutes and were still pressing at the end.
Shame there's no match this Saturday but lets keep the momentum for the remaining fixtures and get some pride back into the season.

It was good to see the team play for one another for the Whole 90 mins...
At last i have a clean sheet, due to the help of the defence!!
Lets keep it going into the next game...
