A reserve team is exactly what it says . Its there as a feeder team for the first team .If you are in the reserves your aim has to be to make the first team . To do that as a new player you have to impress in the reserves and if you are impressing. Your Manager and team mates should be passing back good reviews about you to the first team manager . Do this by telling him face to face or put a message on this message board. If you turn up regularly for training i can all so have a look at you . Dave Chapman at this weeks training impressed me and but for shortage of numbers this week would have made the first team bench.
On the training night before the 22 nil defeat there was 2 reserve players at training of the ten that played compared to (not counting the new keeper ) 7 out of 10 players who played in the first team. Following the 22 nill defeat there was one reserve team player at training and 9 first team players.(not including Saturday players) This means im not getting to see a lot of the players and all so your not getting time to gel with your team mates . The score line speaks for itself on this matter. The Sunday side of things is one club not 2 separate teams and if any one is telling you otherwise speak to me or Dave.A reserve team is all ways likely to have a core of about 6 players the rest will change regularly. At this present time from my point of view and its a negative one. The reserve team is a drain on the first team . This week it had to be filled with 5 first team members meaning no subs for the first team and when they brought on fresh legs yesterday we had nothing to bring on. Dave Harris got a knock early on but bravely carried on . Its a drain because players are not turning up regularly enough instead of a core of 6 i have 2 which includes the manager. I all so seem to have players for example. Parkinson who dont respond to texts but turn up out of the blue .
Need to know if your there or not bud and then there s the no shows again reserve players . Who say yes i will be there and don't show up. ( a text or a phone call would be polite).
Attitudes have to change and i need to see commitment . If your not committed your dead wood and your team mates don't need the hassle. There all so seems to be a myth that the first team have 3 subs every week and the seconds go without. We have been struggling on with a bare 11 for most of the season and i would never have one team play with 10 if we had more then 11 in a competitive game.If things don't change meaning a more positive attitude and a more regular turn out things will have to improve and believe me I'm not afraid to make changes for the good of the club.22 nil 2 weeks ago.Learn from it . As for first team players there has been no competition for your places as of yet this is about to change so make sure your up for the challenges ahead.
