I would like if people who played in these games could make an effort and write a report.6 changes from the 22 nil last week . Rovers put in a much better display against a strong celta side. The thoughts of the players who came to the pub were celta deserved to scrape it but not by 4 goals. Much better now build from here . All so lets see some input on the message board from the players who played.

After last weeks dismal showing I wasn't sure what to expect from this one. After a phone call from Graham to some of us asking to play for the reserves again as we only had 22 players we knew that this was going to be hard, half of the team were first team members filling in for a squad which was again lacking a core contingent.
Last week's report is posted - so go and read that before reading this.
GK - Greg LB - Chris RB - Fletch CB - Mark/Mike?? CB - Mike D CM - Pete CM - Dave LW - Steve F RW - Kev CF - Michael CF - Lee
The difference this week lads is that for some reason we decided to switch on and tried to play football. The pitch wasn't the best and the lack of subs made it very tough going but again these are not excuses that should be made. Positively we didn't make any excuses this week - we got on with it, battled hard and tried to play football - none of which happened last week.
On occasions when we did play football and managed to attack we showed that we could provide some threat. Some good runs on the wings from Steve, and interplay between Dave & Kev showed that we can hold the ball up and offer an attacking option by playing football and creating spaces by dragging away other players. We need to play smart lads as well as with a bit of fight. If you don't have the ball you need to think how you can assist an attack - make life easier for us by creating spaces and dragging away opposition, make a run, offer an easyt option and be patient with the build up - there are plenty of ways to aid an attack.
The defence positively begun to hold the ball up and look for a pass. The were still many occasions of needless hacks and clearences when an easy ball was on but considerably less than last week. The defence did however lack disciple, as Fletch rightly pointed out - nobody was talking and nobody knew what to do - but you also have to LISTEN when people do talk - this wasn't happening either. Its up to us to let each other know the situation, spot dangers and amend in a way to be able to cope with the dangers. The defence seemed very stretched and was caught out a lot of times but the battle was there, there heart was there - but also you MUST talk and listen to each other lads - one of you has to take charge and boss the rest, boss the line and set up accordingly.
The midfield was much stronger this week, Pete and Dave battled well and looked for options and played good football with the wings providing good options when available. Likewise the attack put the work in - credit goes to Michael and Lee for jumping for everyball and chasing every lost cause. But we need to gamble on the high balls - gamble on a missed header or a dodgy back pass and anticipate the loose ball, which we haven't done the past two games.
The goals conceded were very sketchy though and the players involved need to think about what happened, why it happened and how they will stop it happening next time. Greg - you need to stay on your toes, be super-fast off you line, stay confident and even if you have any doubt get something on it. Don't leave it to chance - just stop it anyway you can - if you have to parry or turn away then turn it as far away as possible. Defence - be disciplined and dictate the opponents attack, be first to every ball and don't shy away from a tackle. Midfield - offer the help where possible and put the hard work in getting back.
Despite the 4 utterly naff goals that were conceded this was a much better game of football to be part of. Keep your heads up lads and keep battling and keep improving. Play smart football!
NB - get in a bleeding warm up before the game! make it fun and light hearted and don't over do it. One of you needs to give Greg a warm up and make sure he's switched on!
Despite some harsh words above - I can honestly say lads this week - well done! Much better - but still need to improve!!
