11 Goal Thriller From Rovers!
Rovers went into this fixture 4 players short from the defeat against Heaton Mersey, but came out 7-4 winners in a must win game for the club. Rovers went behind through slack defending again, but got themselves into the lead before the half through 2 goals from Hamed. Rovers wanted to consolidate the lead in the second half but were denied a penalty decision from the referee in the first 5 minutes. Rovers were then caught out by a failure in the offside trap 3 times in 15 minutes. 4-2 down and the Rovers players were distraught at what had just happened, but they pulled themselves together and started playing passing football. Then, goals from Yousef Rooble, Dave Lavelle and Harinder Bajwa got Rovers back into the lead. Rovers carried on putting the pressure on Oldham's back line and Yousef Rooble and Harinder Bajwa scored again to make certain of the win.
The Rovers Manager said "We played well again in spells, but conceeding those 3 goals in the mad 15 minutes of the second half is a concern. I will have to see what we can do to sort out the back line to stop conceeding these "offside goals" which over the past 4 weeks have cost us. But I am pleased with the way the forward line played. Seven goals was more than I was expecting but it proves we can play good football and score goals. "
