Rovers Drop Points at the Death!
Rovers added to their points tally with a well earned draw with Aldermere, although all three points looked to be theirs until five minutes from time. Aldermere had the better of the first half and went in 1-0 up through a counter attack from a Rovers corner and poor defending. However, Rovers picked themselves up and equalised with Alex Pentecost heading home from a free kick. Rovers were unfortunate to go a goal behind again when Aldermere hit the cross bar off a corner only to see the rebound headed home by the Aldermere Striker. Rovers battled back again and when Dave Lavelle scored a free kick and then Alex Pentecost with his second goal slotting home at the back post from a corner the points looked set to be going to Rovers. Aldermere got the equaliser with 5 to go from poor defending again.
The Rovers Manager said "It's a good result even though we could have had a win out of it. We didn't look like we would get anything out of the match from the first half display but we showed great character to get back into the game and even have the chance of winning. We've shown again that we can compete in this league and hopefully the players can see that the results are coming and we can acheive a top half finish if we put the effort in every week. Aldermere are unbeaten so far, so they can't be a bad side. I still think we are lacking in fitness, but the spirit is there to play and get results."
