Manchester rovers second friendly ends in defeat. the fourth year of the south port cup ended in a first ever defeat to AFC southport.rovers started the game brightly creating a couple of half chances before they took the lead thanks to a Jamie Ashton free kick his celebration a tribute to his newest family member.after that how ever southport came into the game scoring 3 goals in quick concession to lead 3 - 1 at half time.rovers responded in the second half and started to play a bit of football mike masterman and then Dave Harris scored with 2 well taken goals . with the game now tied at 3 each it was there for rovers to take . Pete evison hit the cross bar for rovers . it was not to be rovers day. southport hit a long ball into the rovers area which they should have dealt with they did nt and southport scored what turned out to be the winner. man of the match mike Delaney for that superb double save.
