Manchester rovers first friendly for the Saturday team ended in a loss. rovers started the game very shakey and found themselves 2 goals down very early in the game.but after that rovers found there feet the defense got some shape and the midfield got the ball down and started to pass it about which led to bills and youseff seeing more of the ball upfront .the chances soon followed.rovers were unlucky not to score before bills scored and had chances to level it before half time. how ever after finishing the first half strongly rovers failed to carry on the momentum in the second half losing the ball cheaply and wasteful in possession. heath deserved there 2 goals and if it was nt for some top saves from Kev and some great defending from captain Dave Walton it could have been worse.still its a learning curve and there was good points to be taken from the game.man of the match too hard to separate these 2 so its a joint one they organized and talked to people. Kev hawke and Dave Walton.

Rovers vs Newton Heath
Despite the defeat I thought Rovers actually played well considering the following points. Of course the defence was sometime caught short and the ball was given away too cheaply but bear in mind that the majority of the players hadn't played at Saturday league level before. Newton Heath are an experienced Saturday side and a lot of the Rovers players were used to Sunday football. Rovers eventually found their feet and grabbed a goal. The challenges were strong and we played some good football. The key thing is to be a lot sharper on Saturdays.
As underdogs for the season, Rovers can't expect to romp the league but I believe they will have quite a successful first season in the L&C league.
This was my first match back for Rovers after breaking my toe last season and it was good to be playing with the lads again. Unfortunately I'll only be turning out on Sundays - I won't be playing for Rovers in the L&C League this season as I will be playing for Didsbury in the Manchester League but I wish the lads all the best for the season.
Well done to Wally for MOM - solid performance well deserved.

Manchester rovers last game before the kick off to the Saturday season. which starts this Wednesday ended in a humiliating defeat.in what can only be described as the worst half of football a rovers team has ever produced. rovers were out fought and out played all over the park and throughly deserved to be 5 nil down at half time. rovers did play better in the second half but as one of the players said they could NT have played any worse. rovers did have chances to reduce the deficit but for some woe full finishing. how ever rovers were caught asleep again late on as firswood made it 6 nil . when rovers goal did come it was well taken a good strong run at the defense by mo leading to a pass to harry who buried it in the bottom corner. firswood then went on to complete the rout by adding a seventh on a day that rovers will like to forget . man of the match harinder bajwa a good debut

Manchester's rovers first completive game in the Lancashire and Cheshire league got under way tonight . rovers may have lost but they put up a good fight and never gave up in a very hard fought game.rovers playing against the team who finished sixth in this division last year got off to a lively start and brought the game to alkrington some thing which had been missing on Sunday. the rovers back four of Pearson Ewart Curtis and captain Dave Walton were solid from the start playing high up the pitch and playing a very effective offside trap. anything that did go over there heads Ricardo playing in goal sweep ed up . alkrington broke the deadlock from a flick on which there striker ran onto and buried in the bottom corner. rovers came close to equalizing Curtis going on a storming run beating 2 defenders his shot narrowly went wide with the keeper beaten . alkrington made it 2 nil however before half time rovers failed to clear the ball and were punished again. it looked like rovers would score before the break a header off a corner just beaten away was then crossed in again the defender half cleared it only as far as Pete evison whose shot looked destined for the net only to just fly over. rovers gave it there all to find a goal in the second half but with legs tiring conceded a 3 rd . the introduction of atu harry and mark Hamilton breathed new life into them . atu and harry caused alkringtons defense bother as soon as they come on and it was atu who was hauled down in the box for a penalty to rovers. Ricardo steeped up and made no mistake leaving the keeper rooted on his line with a fine strike and rovers first ever goal in there new league.the game finished 3-1 . man of the match a hard one every one gave it there all tonight but it has to go to the captain Dave Walton who leaded by example and organized his team well. even staid on the pitch after a nasty knock to the eye.

Yet another defeat for Manchester Rovers. Rovers started the game with high hopes after a promising display on Wednesday . the first 15 minutes for Rovers went well first to every thing with strong fair challenges. Rovers were unlucky not to take the lead when they hit the cross bar with both keeper and defense in no mans land. However Droysden took the lead on 16 minutes, then Rovers conceded a free kick near the area for high foot from which Droylsden doubled their lead with a well taken free kick. It was harsh on Rovers who were playing well and got back into the game when Dave Harris came in from the left and unleashed a brilliant goal from 20 yards. Rovers then took the game to Droylsden only to concede their 3rd goal of the game when they failed to clear the ball properly. Then straight from the restart Matt Johnson hit a long ball upfront which went over the defenses heads and Yousef nipped in in-front of the keeper to make it 3 -2. Rovers should have come out for the 2nd half believing they could win the game however Droylsden took the initiative and pinned Rovers back in their own half. Rovers still looked dangerous on the break and were unlucky not to equalise when Harry's shot came back off the post. Rovers conceded a 4th at which time the subs came on for Rovers the fresh legs seemed to make a difference, Rovers broke down the left and Dave Lavelle put a cross in which the keeper parried into the path of Andy Ewart but the ball hit his hand before going into the net - goal disallowed. Rover's then conceded their 5th with the keeper Mike Delaney sustaining a bad injury in the process, with only 7 minutes left on the clock and Rover's down to 10 men it seemed a matter of how many for Droylsden. They scored their 6th goal and the 7th soon followed. It's a learning curve for Rover's who's young squad will need to learn fast in order to pick up points in this division.
Man of the Match - Yousef Rooble - Best Player on the Pitch by far.
